Impressed
Loved the food. Booked a table for 16 at late notice and although they were very busy we were impressed with the service. Glad to see a good Indian Restaurant in Launceston.

Mr.
I am amazed that there are negative reviews here - this is one of the Stand Out Indian restaurants we have ever visited - we are moving to Launceston from Western Australia and will be regulars here! AJ took care of us - all staff very friendly and service outstanding!10/10 - Absolutely Fantastic.
We are regulars in the UK and AAJ India can take on the very best - the San Gam in Oxford Road, Manchester (The Curry Mile) is one of our favourites of the past 20 years but AAJ is equal to if not better!
To Hari whom I believe is the owner - you have a fine restaurant, family and staff!
And always for me, cleanliness is paramount - you truly could eat off the floor - and washrooms always a good benchmark - same applies!!
Recommended - if you love Indian Food - you will not be disappointed!!

Great food and the service was not too badThere were 3 of us, but they let us do the banquet (menu said minimum of 4)
Was a bit disappointed by a couple of things though ...
Some guy abusing waiting staff
Same guy sitting on couches wiping cutlery
My advice is keep the washing up where it should be and staff appraisals in private!!!

Tough, chewy meat in Korma
Took my Mum out for lunch for a treat but food disappointing. The Lamb Korma was especially poor quality with the majority of all the lamb in the korma being so tough you could not chew them (approx. 10 pieces out of 12 tough) - possibly old and reheated??? Mango chicken meat also chewy and not up to usual standard.
Problem mentioned to staff member but nothing done about the complaint.
Won't be going back!

Don't always believe bad reviews!
Previous poor reviews probably submitted by jealous competitors! Meal and service v good, restaurant was crowded on the Friday pm my group dined there, so their good reputation has obviously spread. We would have spent more on drinks had the staff come and asked and we were left a little too long waiting for our account. Can forgive that since they were so busy!

Fantastic
Aaj is probably my favourite restaurant in Launceston. We have yet to receive bad service - there have been a few misunderstandings but they are forgivable and each time the staff have been very apologetic. Indian is my favourite cuisine and I am pretty picky when it comes to the dishes, however all dishes that my partner and I have had thus far have been amazing with the exception of one (however this was due to my taste, the actual dish itself was great). We always have plenty of food, and am surprised about others saying their table service is lacking as if I was going to complain it would be about them being TOO efficient. We have never had long waits for food - even when busy. I would definitely recommend for anyone if they want a good meal for a great price. The Paneer Masala is the best curry I have ever had in my life!! The Tandoori Platter is highly recommended by my partner!!

lovely decor. bad food.
we received poor service, 1 meal wasdry and inedibly salty , food poisoning...and no apology. After calling the restaurant to notify them of food poisoning, not complain, we did get any sympathy, understanding or responsibility taken by the manager. I am a restaurant manager myself, so was reluctant to complain, but am so apalled in the way this other wise easily fixed situation was dealt with, that now i am.

Give it a big miss
Booked a table for Thursday but got a call on Tuesday demanding to know where we were. Forgivable. Arrived Thursday with party of 6. Stood around for four minutes despite only three tables in the large space being occupied. Had to go to the counter at back to get someone to seat us. Took 20 minutes to take food order, which was also drinks order. They were out of Kingfisher beer!! And all beers the same price ($6.50) regardless of quality. Dishes arrived but no rice, despite it being ordered for the table and this took 5 minutes to arrive. And that was the last we saw of a staff member. No seeing if we'd like more drinks, no collecting plates, no asking if we wanted to order desserts. Had to go to the counter and ask for the bill, although we could have just walked out and they'd be none the wiser. Vindaloo mild, and korma hot?!? go figure. Unskilled staff. Poor food. Long waits. Terrible. Truly awful dining experience from Hari Curry's 'upmarket' eatery.
